Artists collaborate inside Public Space One every single day to celebrate creativity. On Sunday, August 28th, I was no exception. Surrounding myself with an amazing team of artists, we featured original work by Iowa City artists Emily Jalinsky and Jillian Moore, and were joined by friends who came from all over Iowa to create with us for the afternoon.
DJ Brendan Hanks and Telekinetic Yeti performed original music during this 3 hour shoot.
I was joined by the always radical Jillian Moore. She brought new jewelry from her latest collection to be worn throughout the day. In July I teamed up with Iowa artist collective DSM Girl Gang to do a call for artists for this project. Always inspired by their drive to showcase Iowa artists, I was flattered when they shared this event with everyone via their Instagram page. Because of this, I connected with Ames artist Kat Nissen. Kat traveled to Iowa City to be our still life photographer for this piece. I can't thank Kat and DSM Girl Gang enough for believing in my skills as an artist and for taking time out of their schedules to help me create this work.
I'd like to thank the models who joined us for the day.
Huge thanks to our stylists JoAnn LS and Latisha Moton. You two are unbelievable, thank you for your skills!
Chuy Renteria provided breakdancing in our shots to add movement to our images. Such a great person, with incredible drive and passion for what he does, a pleasure to collaborate with him. Thanks Chuy!
And of course, thanks to the photographers involved in this shoot.
Special Thanks to Alex Persels and Public Space One.
